Cut&Paste 2009

This spring e2k connected with Cut&Paste to produce the North American shows for their 2009 digital design tournament including events in LAX, SFO, PDX, BOS, NYC, YTO, and CHI. Cut&Paste is a social arena for the discovery, advocacy, and elevation of design. The Cut&Paste tour brings local designers in 2D, 3D, and motion design together to compete onstage for an opportunity to advance to the Global Championships and work with leaders in their industry. The North American events were produced by Trisha Ricci with the help of Mike Brady and Mickey Fimbres. e2k also assisted with their Asia shows with Mickey being onsite in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. We are looking forward to working with them again on the Global Championships will be held in NYC on October 16.

Michael Olmstead with the first non-fuel burning torch for the National Senior Games

The solar powered torch and cauldron concept was developed by Olmstead and e2k. The torch and cauldron were designed by IDEO—the Palo Alto-based industrial design and innovation firm.

49ers Family Day 2009



On Saturday June 13th, over 9,000 49ers Faithful gathered at Candlestick Park for 49ers Family Day.

The annual event, provides fans an up close and personal behind the scenes look at their favorite team. Activities included youth football clinics, drills, and skills events hosted by 49ers players.

Youth cheerleading and drumline clinics hosted by the 49ers Gold Rush and Niner Noise, tours of the 49ers Locker Room, photo opportunities with the Super Bowl Trophies, live entertainment, interactive games, Football 101 session hosted by 49ers Alumni Gary Plummer, contests, prizes and more.


The event also featured two autograph stages, where over 25 current and former players signed memorabilia for the fans, a Military Challenge where each branch of the military competed in football skills events (Congratulations Air Force), and the highlight of the day was a lunchtime interview with 49ers Head Coach Mike Singletary.

Harry Reid Fundraiser with President Obama

On May 26, 2009 e2k, in association with Chris Wayne and Associates, handled the technical production for a major fundraising event at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, featuring President Obama and Senator Harry Reid. The star-studded show also included performances by two local choirs, Clint Holms, Rita Rudner, Rachael Yamagata, Sheryl Crow and Bette Midler. e2k Technical Director Mike Brady handled the artists’ technical requirements and directed the program backstage, while Chris Wayne managed the audience and produced two pre-show VIP events for the President and Senator Reid. The fundraiser was attended by a full house of 4,900 people.

Michelle Obama at UC Merced

On May 16, 2009, e2k in association with AVI, produced the UC Merced commencement ceremony, featuring Michelle Obama. This was the first solo public speaking engagement for the First Lady. With 12,000 people in attendance, the University was certainly in terms of exposure and all production systems.

e2k Technical Director, Mike Brady, directed the installation and operation of all production elements in the newly constructed amphitheater, including staging, power, sound, lighting, video displays, media and UC systems integration. e2k stage managers Katie Doherty and Maria Giannini scripted and ran the entire outdoor event in the 104 degree heat of show day. e2k partner, AVI, headed by John Orchard and Barry Brown, provided video switching, show programming and media feeds to the 38 broadcasters covering the evening.
